Pinecone, la pigna, is an ancient symbol signifying abundance and harmony, and is often used to welcome a new baby, celebrate newlyweds, or as a housewarming gift.
The Sicilian tradition is felt so deeply that the ceramic pinecone is present in almost all homes: on the pillars at an entrance, on the balconies, or inside the rooms signifying a good omen.
